Small business website questions

How much does a small business website cost in Australia?

One-off builds usually run from about $1,500 to $10,000 depending on size, plus hosting. With Foundly, tradie websites start at $60 a month and custom business websites at $149 a month, with nothing upfront and hosting included.

Is a monthly website plan better than paying upfront?

It depends on your cash flow. A monthly plan means no big bill to start, and hosting, updates and support are included. Paying upfront can work out cheaper over many years, but hosting and changes are usually charged separately.

How long does it take to build a website?

A one-page site is usually live in about two weeks. A full business site takes four to six weeks, and we keep you posted the whole way.

Do I need a website if I have a Facebook page?

In most cases, yes. People Google a business before they call, and a Facebook page doesn't show up well in search. A website with your services, reviews and contact details is what wins the enquiry.

Do I own my website?

Yes. After 12 months on any plan you own the design outright. We're upfront about that from the first chat.

Do you write the words for my website?

Yes. We have a chat with you, then write the copy for every page. You check it and tell us what to change.

Websites for tradies

Who builds websites for tradies in Melbourne?

Foundly does. We're a web design team based on Melbourne's Mornington Peninsula, building websites for plumbers, electricians, builders and other trades across Melbourne and the rest of Australia.

How much does a tradie website cost?

Our tradie websites are $60 a month for a custom 5-page site, with the words, photos, hosting, updates and Google setup included. Nothing upfront, a 12-month minimum, then month to month.

What should a tradie website include?

Click-to-call, a quote form, your services and the suburbs you work in, photos of real jobs and your Google reviews. That's what turns a visitor into a phone call.

Do you build websites for plumbers, electricians and builders?

Yes, and most other trades too, including landscapers, painters, carpenters, concreters and handymen. Every site is built around your trade and the jobs you want more of.

Do you build tradie websites outside Melbourne?

Yes. We're Melbourne-based but build websites for tradies right across Australia. It's all done over the phone and online, so it doesn't matter where you are.

Australian website hosting questions

How much does website hosting cost in Australia?

Budget hosting can be as cheap as $5 to $15 a month, but you look after it yourself. Managed hosting like ours starts at $39 a month and includes backups, security, updates and support.

What is managed hosting?

It means someone looks after the technical side for you: updates, backups, security and monitoring. With Foundly you don't log into a control panel, you just get in touch with us.

Is Australian hosting better for SEO?

It helps, but not as much as some hosts claim. A local server makes your site load faster for Australian visitors, and speed does count. Where the server sits is only a small ranking factor on its own.

Is my data stored in Australia?

Yes. Your website files, databases and backups are all kept on servers in Australia.

Can you move my website from my current host?

Yes, and it's free on every plan. We copy it, test it and switch it over, and we sort out your email so nothing gets lost.

Do you offer managed WordPress hosting?

Yes. WordPress, WooCommerce and most custom-built sites. We handle the updates, backups and security so you don't have to.

SEO and Google questions

What is local SEO?

Local SEO helps your business show up when people nearby search for what you do, especially in the Google map results. It covers your Google Business Profile, reviews, your website's pages and listings on other sites.

How do I get my business on Google Maps?

Set up and verify a free Google Business Profile, add your services, photos and opening hours, and ask happy customers for reviews. We can set it up and look after it for you.

How long does SEO take to work?

Usually two to three months before you see movement, and six to twelve months for bigger gains. Anyone promising page one overnight isn't being straight with you.

Can you guarantee a number one ranking on Google?

No honest agency can, because Google decides. What we can promise is proper, above-board work and plain-English reports on what's changing.

What's the difference between SEO and Google Ads?

Ads are paid traffic that stops when you stop paying. SEO builds rankings that keep working. They work well together, and we'll tell you honestly which makes sense for you.

Mornington Peninsula

IT support questions (Mornington Peninsula)

Who does IT support on the Mornington Peninsula?

Foundly does. We're based in Mornington and provide on-site and remote IT support to small businesses from Frankston down to Portsea, with 20 years of experience behind us.

Do you come on site?

Yes, anywhere on the Mornington Peninsula. A lot of problems can be fixed remotely too, which is quicker and usually cheaper for you.

Do I need a contract for IT support?

No. Call us for one-off jobs whenever you need, or set up ongoing support. Either way there's no lock-in.

How do we protect our business from scams and hacks?

Most attacks start with email. Good email filtering, strong passwords with two-step login, tested backups and a bit of staff training cover most of the risk for a small business.

Do you offer IT support outside the Mornington Peninsula?

Our IT support is local to the Peninsula, because a lot of it means turning up on site. If you're further afield, we can still help with your website, hosting and SEO.
